Banana Nesquik discontinued at Australian supermarkets

Publish date: 2024-04-27

Fans of Nestle’s banana Nesquik have taken to social media to share their tips on where to find the drink mix after the flavour disappeared from major supermarket shelves.

Discontinued in 2018, only chocolate and strawberry flavours remain on Coles and Woolworths shelves.

Many disappointed Aussies have only recently discovered the childhood staple’s disappearance and have taken to social media to share their dismay.

TikToker @hollythebigbadloser was one such crestfallen consumer, posting a video on July 15 pointed at the country’s major supermarkets.

“Coles and Woolworths Australia, you’ve really let your fellow human beings down by taking away banana-flavoured Nesquik,” she said.

Luckily, the motivated West Australian found a smaller shop that sold her beloved banana beverage – Spudshed, a chain of 17 family-owned stores across WA.

“Now, this is an import item from the UK so we’re going to pay a bit more than the $3.99 price tag on the Nesquik you (saw) at Coles and Woolies,” Holly said.

In fact, the TikToker forked out $8.99 for the elusive drink mix – more than twice its previous cost.

For this banana buff, however, it was worth it.

“I’m happy to pay this just for my banana-flavoured milk,” she said.

Other users commented their own thoughts and tips on where to find the favourite discontinued product, with one Nesquik nut revealing she spent $15 on a container.

“Amazon … sell(s) it too,” one said.

“I’ve just bought some from Mr Fancy Candy … expensive, but I’ve been looking for it for ages,” said another.

Other commenters said the drink was usually available at The Reject Shop stores in NSW.

“Factors such as declining sales and available retail space can result in us discontinuing products,” a Nestle spokesperson said.

“Wherever we operate, we make local decisions about the products we bring to market, focusing on local preferences, shopping trends and retail conditions.”

There are currently no plans to bring the banana beverage back.
