Marie Osmond says she was shamed for resuming work a week after 18-year-old son killed himself by ju
Singer Marie Osmond has revealed how she was shamed for going back to work a week after the funeral of her son in 2010, saying "I think this world is into too much of this shaming thing."
The singer, who has taken over co-hosting duties at 'The Talk' after Sarah Gilbert's exit, also shared that she has been criticized for being supportive of her gay daughter. Osmond's son Michael was 18 when he committed suicide in 2010 and was amongst the eight children Osmond shared with her husband Brian Bosil. Five of the children, including Michael, were adopted.
On her first appearance as a host on the CBS talk show, Osmond admitted that she was devastated upon being slammed for going back to work a week after Michael's funeral. As reported by People, she shared, "I've been shamed before. You know, if you take the topic of shame, you can say what you want about me, but when they start attacking your children or your family or those type of things, I think this world is into too much of this shaming thing."
She also recalled returning to work a week after the funeral as a means to deal with the grief and loss that she was facing after Michael's suicide. She added how people were extremely mean given how she was trying to show her other children that they needed to keep living and moving ahead.
She also revealed that people's negativity really affected the rest of her children. Recently, Osmond spoke to CBS This Morning about the devastating effects the death of her son had on her. She revealed that one never really gets through an experience like that.
Osmond was slammed for supporting her gay daughter Jessica Marie Blosil who recently got married. "I think especially for loving your child. Never you should shame someone," she shared.
