Rising pop star Cat Burns releases new EP 'Naive'

Rising pop star Cat Burns has released her new EP, Naive.

The five-track EP is inspired by Cat’s past relatable dating experience, with the 18-year-old songstress bringing her sass, soul-drenched vocals and distinctive style to each track. The EP includes the pop influenced ‘Sober’, the chilled ‘Just Us’, the fierce and brutally honest ‘Cheater’ and ‘Fuckboy’, and new track ‘Pretty Boys’, a summery ode to lusting over attractive boys who are unfortunately already taken.

The EP cover even depicts the five self-penned songs, with each track being represented by a different boy. Check it out below.

Speaking about the EP, Cat said: “In a nutshell, Naive is about my boy troubles. It’s about me not understanding why I was being treated so badly by guys, then finally realising that people only treat you the way you allow them to…And that I was going for the wrong boys!”

Cat is a rising star in the making and grew up with a love of gospel music thanks to listening to her family’s records. Influenced by artists including Kirk Franklin and Kim Burrell, over the years they’ve inspired Cat greatly and have played a huge role in shaping her unique sound.

At the age of 11, Cat appeared on Britain’s Got Talent, a decision which encouraged her to turn music into a career, especially as she felt that there weren’t many artists around who came from a similar background that she could look up to. She later attended BRIT School at 14, and released her debut EP Adolescent.

Since then, Cat has grown from strength to strength, garnering support from Jamz Supernova (BBC 1Xtra), Hunger TV, Official Charts, Complex UK and more. The singer-songwriter was named as MSG London’s Up & Coming Artist Of The Month and completed the Coffee House Sessions Tour last year.

Cat Burns is without one to watch and we can’t wait to see how she continues to shine over the coming months. You can catch her performing live at Latitude Festival this summer.
